With recent survey showing that children spend less time outdoors than prisoners and words like wren and conker recently excised from the Oxford Junior Dictionary, the wonders of the British countryside are fading from our national consciousness. As a child brought up in the countryside I was familiar with the names of common bird species and wildflowers and looked with excitement for them as the seasons passed. As an artist, I want to give people back the simple joys of seeing our native British flora and fauna. So……remember the redwings!
