Where to Buy Picture Frames?

Here’s a little help on where to buy picture frames for your Stephanie Gay Silk Art painting or print.

I only sell framed paintings direct from my studio or at fairs and exhibitions. There are two main reasons for this:

  1. How customers want paintings/prints framed usually depends on the decor in their home and personal taste so many would prefer to choose their own.
  2. It is difficult to find postal services that will insure glazed paintings/prints in transit. The risk of damage is high both to the frame and the work within.

Your Stephanie Gay original painting or print will come mounted to fit a standard sized frame so that it is easy and inexpensive to find suitable frames in home and diy stores. If your budget is flexible and you want something unusual, there are many excellent picture framers who can advise and have a multitude of options available. The Fine Art Trade Guild is an excellent place to discover a reliable and high quality framer in your area.

If however you would like to find a readymade standard sized picture frame, here’s a few suggestions of places to try (just click on the name of the store to go straight to the frames):

IKEA Stock a range of basic frames in standard metric sizes
Homebase Sell a good range of both metric and imperial sizes
Wilko Wide range of imperial sized frames
B&Q Basic range of metric sized frames
Argos Stocks both the Habitat range in metric sizes and Argos Home branded products in imperial sizes
John Lewis Good selection in both metric and imperial
The Range Mostly Imperial sizes
Dunelm Good range of imperial sizes, including some more unusal sizes
Next Imperial sizes – some unusual finishes
