Welcome to The Silk Shed – the studio of Portishead Artist Stephanie Gay ! Sadly I had to leave my lovely studio and gallery at Somerset Flower Farm in Wrington in North Somerset but now I have a brilliant new purpose built artist studio in the garden at my home. The studio has wonderful views across the Severn Estuary to Wales. I get great pleasure from watching the huge ships coming in and out of Royal Portbury and Avonmouth Docks on their way all over the world. I also love to watch the birds and squirrels in the garden as I paint on a table in front of the studio window.
Portishead is a coastal town on the Severn Estuary close to Bristol and it offers many attractions. The redeveloped marina was modelled on the Cornish seaside town of Polperro and is a lovely place to stroll and enjoy the many cafes and restaurants. Visit the seafront esplanade and lake grounds with its boating lake, play parks, cafes and the fantastic Portishead Open Air Lido. The Victorian High Street offers a great range of independent shops and some big name stores. There’s plenty for a lovely day out.
